Part Two: The Chemistry Behind Sara and Tony
At the center of the movie are Sara and Tony, played by Taylor Cole and William Levy. Their pairing gives South Beach Love its romantic energy, but what makes the relationship interesting is that it develops within a story already filled with competing loyalties and family connections.
Cole has become a familiar face to Hallmark audiences through a long list of roles, including Appetite for Love, Christmas Festival of Ice, the One Winter Weekend movies, Matching Hearts, the Ruby Herring Mysteries and later Hallmark projects such as Pumpkin Everything and Long Lost Christmas. Hallmark’s own biography also notes her television work in series including The Event, CSI: Miami, The Glades and Salvation.
That experience shows in the ease she brings to Sara. Cole has a natural ability to play characters who can be capable and independent without losing their warmth. In South Beach Love, that quality helps keep the romantic story grounded. Sara feels like someone with her own priorities and relationships rather than a character who exists solely to fall in love.
William Levy brings a different screen presence. Born in Cuba, Levy moved to Miami at 14 and initially attended St. Thomas University on a baseball scholarship before pursuing acting. His career includes popular Spanish-language television series such as Cuidado con el ángel, Sortilegio, Triunfo del amor and La Tempestad, as well as film and television work in the United States.
His background also gives the film an especially natural connection to its Miami setting. Tony’s presence fits comfortably within the movie’s cultural landscape, while Levy’s established television career gives the romance a recognizable leading-man quality.
Yet the appeal of South Beach Love goes beyond the two leads. The supporting characters help create the sense that these relationships exist within families and communities rather than in isolation. The movie’s official description specifically emphasizes friendship and family ties alongside romance, and that balance is important to its tone.
That is ultimately what makes the romantic tension enjoyable. The story is not asking viewers to forget everything else in the characters’ lives simply because two people are attracted to one another.
